So you've got a safe huh???

So about that safe...

A friend recently had a problem with their safe. They had bought it at an estate sale, cheap of course. But, it worked!

Until it didn't...

Then they called me. Now this happens to be the second safe I've had to "fix" for them. The first one was handled with a paper clip. That took all of 2 minutes. This one was a bit more of a challenge. 

I remember seeing this technique demonstrated on the interwebs several years ago and never really thought much of it one way or the other. 

Once I got the pen apart and the end heated up properly, and that's really the trick to this technique from my one time experience, it took me about 30 seconds of jiggling and, pop! Just like that it opened. 

I doubt no one was more surprised than me. My friend was suitably impressed, and grateful of course. 

Much celebrating ensued late into the evening...

So the upshot? 

Yes, sometimes your time misspent on the interwebs viewing what seem to be useless videos can pay big dividends years later.
